TAKEAWAYS

For centuries, the pub has been a significant part of the British community. With the onset of Covid-19 pubs and other hospitality venues have had to shut their doors, this has led to the core of the community been hit hard and has forced the sector to make some drastic changes in order to survive.

With limited access to hospitality for most people during this difficult time, I decided to take advantage of my own situation. As part of a landlord and publican family, I’ve spent most of my life living and working in pubs. This series of portraits are taken during the lockdown period and depict our regular customers inside the pub to collect take-away drinks only. Armed with a range of makeshift and household containers to carry alcohol home, this series of images mark a seminal point in the pandemic and a first for the country’s hospitality industry.
